Rules & Regulations Contract

Eligibility

1. The pageant committee requires a minimum of six contestants to conduct a pageant. The application deadline is July 31, 2026 at 11:59 PM.
2. A Queen contestant must be sixteen years of age by August 11 and must not have reached her 22nd birthday at the time of the West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals Pageant held in January.
3. A Teen contestant must be twelve years of age by August 11 and must not have reached her 16th birthday by the annual pageant date. Only the Queen titleholder advances to the state Fairs and Festivals Pageant.
4. The Queen must remain single throughout her reign, which continues until the crowning of a new titleholder the following year. If Miss Doddridge County marries during her reign, she forfeits her title and the first runner-up will succeed.
5. A contestant must have been a resident of Doddridge County, West Virginia, for at least six months before the pageant or be a student in the Doddridge County School system.
6. The titleholder must remain a resident of West Virginia throughout her reign.

Competition & Judging

7. Judges will interview each contestant individually during the Queen's Tea held on the afternoon of the pageant at a local bank in West Union.
8. Contestants will also compete in Streetwear, Evening Gown, and On-Stage Question.
9. Contestants will be judged on poise, natural beauty, character, and the ability to serve as an ambassador for Doddridge County.

Entry Fees, Attendance & Authority

10. The entry fee is $100 for Queen contestants and $75 for Teen contestants.
11. The pageant schedule is busy, and contestants are required to be present and on time. Contestants must attend practices before the pageant.
12. All contestants and a parent or guardian, if the contestant is under 18, must sign and return the contract. By signing, they agree to indemnify the Doddridge County Queen/Teen Pageant and Doddridge County Fair for perceived damages resulting from participation and agree to follow all rules.
13. Complete and final authority for the Miss Doddridge County Fair Queen & Teen Pageant rests with directors Paige Wright and Kaleigh Dotson.

Titleholder Responsibilities

14. One Miss Doddridge County Fair Queen and one Miss Doddridge County Fair Teen may be chosen. Each titleholder must participate in fair activities as directed and take an active role during Fair Week and in crowning her successor. An itinerary will be provided.
15. Attendance at other parades, festivals, and pageants is optional but highly encouraged. Titleholders are responsible for their own arrangements. Doddridge County events should be prioritized throughout the reign.

State Competition & Other Pageants

16. The Queen is required to participate in the State Competition at the West Virginia Fairs and Festivals Convention in Charleston. Weekend expenses, including one hotel room, are paid by the Fair Board. Hotel rules must be followed, and the Fair Board is not responsible for room damages.
17. Miss Doddridge County may enter other pageants throughout the state. If another title conflicts with the 2027 West Virginia State Fairs and Festivals Pageant, she must forfeit the Doddridge County title. The Queen should consult the executive pageant director before entering another pageant.
18. Miss Doddridge County should not enter another pageant within the West Virginia Association of Fairs and Festivals system before July 1. After July 1, the current Queen or Teen may compete elsewhere while completing the current reign.
19. Miss Doddridge County may participate in pageants outside the WVAFF system to further represent Doddridge County.

Scholarship Requirements

20. To receive the scholarship awarded, the Queen must successfully complete her reign and provide proof of enrollment in an eligible higher-education facility. The Doddridge County Fair Board determines which facilities qualify.

Conduct & Continued Eligibility

21. Contestants and titleholders must satisfy the eligibility requirements in the official contract. If a titleholder becomes ineligible during her reign, she may forfeit the title and the first runner-up may succeed.
22. Miss Doddridge County must maintain a reputation of good moral character. Failure to do so may result in forfeiture of the title. This applies to social-media accounts and in-person communications with the public. Complaints may be reviewed by the Doddridge County Fair Board.
23. After serving as Miss Doddridge County Queen or Teen, a titleholder may not compete again for the title until two years have passed.
